Mantanani Island consist of three small isolated islands off the north-west coast of Sabah. Mantanani Island is located in the northern west of Kota Belud, and only an hour drive away from Sabah capital city of Kota Kinabalu. To go to Mantanani Island, it is approximately 55 minutes boat ride by speedboat from the mainland Kuala Abai Jetty.

The three small islands in Mantanani Island are Big Mantanani Island (Pulau Mantanani Besar), Small Mantanani Island (Pulau Mantanani Kecil) and Lungisan Island.

Big Mantanani shaped like a knife. It has a beach that stretches up to 2.500 meters. There are a few operators is Mantanani Island such as Mari-Mari Backpacker Lodge, Mantanani Resort, Green House Lodge, Viva Mantanani Boutique Resort, Mantanani Adventures and Dive Resort, Palm Beach Mantanani Holidays, and Rasa Sayang Mantanani Resort.

Small Mantanani has a nice view behind it. Tourist can walk to a small cliff behind the island and enjoy a bird view of its rocky shore. The sea under the cliff looks deep and rough, therefre it was meant for watching only.

The Lungisan Island is named after the frigate birds that flew around the island in the evening. Lungisan island is a very small island which no one lives on it.

Mantanani Island is being famous among the local residents and foreign tourist for its picturesque scenery, cool breezes and serene environment.

Tourist may want try for a sea-kayaking along the clear sea. Or just enjoy and relax by the white sand beaches in Mantanani Island, or swim and snorkel in the crystal clear sea. Other activities tourist can do is go for island trekking and see how's life is like for local villager in fishing village.
